With a catchment area spanning miles, our department offers a comprehensive range of emergency services, including Surgical and Medical Gastroenterology and all types of gastroenterology related emergencies. We are specialised with Asia’s Best team of Surgical Gastroenterology team for all kinds of abdomen related emergencies. We provide treat any complicated abdominal cases like gall bladder stones and infections, appendicitis hernias, GI bleedings, Liver diseases, gynaecological emergencies, urological emergencies like urinary stones. We also have consultants from Nephrology, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Oncology and Cardiology. Our 24×7 emergency team also provide resuscitation and care for other emergencies.

Led by Dr. Vanmathy.V, our esteemed Department Head, and supported by a team of dedicated professionals, the Emergency Department at GEM Hospital is staffed by:

1 Department Head, 1 ER Consultant, 4 Duty Medical Officers, 2 Stay Duty Surgeons, 10 Registered Nurses

Together, our multidisciplinary team ensures seamless coordination and superior patient care round the clock.

Cutting-Edge Facilities

Beds and Triage: With 11 ER beds strategically allocated and split based on triage zones, we prioritize patient care based on urgency. Our ER Consulting Room is equipped to handle a variety of medical emergencies efficiently and effectively.

Staff Training: At GEM Hospital, we place a strong emphasis on continuous staff training and development. Our team undergoes regular updates and training sessions to ensure the highest quality of service delivery. All ER staff are proficient in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), guaranteeing optimal care for our patients.

Ambulance Service: Our dedicated ambulance service is equipped to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed. Staffed by trained medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and drivers, our ambulances are ready to respond to emergencies promptly and efficiently.

Adult Immunization Service: In addition to emergency care, we also offer adult immunization services to protect our community against a range of preventable diseases.We provide adult immunisation with Influenza, Pneumococcal 13 & 23 , DPT, TT, Thyphoid, Hep A , Hep B, Rabies, HPV, Rubella

Gastroenterology: Ascitic Tapping, GI Bleed management, Ryle tube insertion
Surgical gastroenterology- Full time best surgical consultants on call to address any emergency abdomen surgeries
Nephrology: Invasive Lines, Preparation for Dialysis and emergency dialysis will be initiated with coordination with our nephrology team
Cardiology: Invasive lines, Pacing, Cardioversion, Thrombolysis, Preparation for PCI with coordination with our cardiology team
