GEM UNIQUE APPROACH

Robotic colorectal cancer surgery: Robotic surgery has demonstrated many advantages over laparoscopic surgery, especially in the field of colorectal surgery. The area of interest in this category of diseases is the pelvis, which is very narrow and contains a lot of vital structures related to urinary and reproductive functions. Robotic surgery helps the surgeons manoeuvre through these spaces with 3D visualisation, with well-articulating instruments assisting complex steps, reducing the chances of injuries, and thereby enhancing the recovery time (ERAS-Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Protocol) while preserving the function. Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery: In the early days of laparoscopy in the 1990s, the technique didn’t earn the confidence of colorectalC. Palanivelu surgeons as the of thempleteness of surgery was questionable.
Laparoscopic colonoscopy and rectal surgery are now the preferred treatment options all over the world.
Robotic Hernia Surgery: Robotic hernia surgery is considered a natural extension of laparoscopic hernia surgeries, but we at GEM hospitals carefully choose the patients for the choice of modality and help the patients recover faster with very little pain and scars.

Laparoscopic hernia surgery: inguinal hernia is the most frequently diagnosed hernia and hence one of the most frequently done laparoscopic surgeries. We at GEM Hospital have pioneered several steps and techniques in this specialty.
During the surgery, a biocompatible mesh is placed and meticulously fixed to prevent recurrence.
Laser hemorrhoidal surgery: There are several office-based procedures to treat piles. The best approach always depends on the patient, symptoms, and stage of the disease. We at GEM hospitals use very advanced techniques like laser haemorrhoidectomy, and we also use hemorrhoidal staplers for certain types of circumferential piles. For early-stage patients, we also use modalities like HAL, banding, etc.
Fistula in ano: Fistula in ano is a disease affecting mankind since time immemorial. This disease needs a very scientific approach to diagnose, classify, and treat it properly without recurrence. We at GEM Hospital take a multidisciplinary approach and involve the radiologist to map the disease using MRI scans and TRUS modalities. We use advanced lasers, VAAFT, LIFT, and other modalities to treat these patients.
