In a groundbreaking development for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in India, GEM Hospital, Chennai, has successfully performed the Nation’s first Intra-Operative Endo-FLIP-tailored Laparoscopic Fundoplication on 07-05-2025
After the launch of Endo FLIP in India in February 2025, it was utilized at two other Centers, only for endoscopic procedures such as POEM (Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy). GEM Hospital Chennai pioneers the application of Endo FLIP in laparoscopic fundoplication represents a first-of-its-kind achievement in the country.
The procedure was carried out by a distinguished team of experts.
The real-time intraoperative Endo FLIP (Endoluminal Functional Lumen Imaging Probe) procedure was performed by Dr. Sanoop Kumar Sherin Sabu and Laparoscopic fundoplication was led by Dr. P. Senthil Nathan, Dr. Sreeram S and Dr. Vivek with Anesthesia back up by Dr. Vijay
