Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine of Gem Hospital, Perungudi, Chennai conducted a Comprehensive Cancer Pain Interventions Workshop on 17th November 2024 in collaboration with Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and Palliative care of Cancer Institute, Adyar.
It was organised by Dr Vanmathy V, HOD of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicins / Medical superintendent of Gem Hospital, Perungudi, Chennai. – Organising Secretary.

The main objective is to create an awareness on Cancer pain and upscaling the anaesthesiologists’ skills in diagnosis and management of cancer pain patients.
The session included Case based discussion on complex cancer pain scenarios , lectures on overview of palliative care, Newer modalities in cancer pain interventions, Fluoroscopy guided cancer pain interventions,. Delegates were taught how to do pain relief blocks by Ultrasound demonstration of pain relief target sites on volunteers.
Our special guest was Dr Joysree Subramanian, who is an expert practicing on Chronic pain, Cancer pain and Neuromodulation at University of Iowa, USA.

It was our first cancer pain workshop. We will consider all the valuable inputs from our delegates and faculties. We will strive to take learning to the next level in our future workshops.
