IBD(Inflammatory bowel disease) is a group of disorders in which the intestines are injured for long time. It mainly
include Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative colitis. India has the second largest number of patients suffering from the
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), with an estimate of 15 lakhs patients.
Inflamatory Bowel Disease is often unrecognized and poorly treated. This lead to various complications like intestinal obstruction ( A condition where intestine is blocked) or fistula ( abdonormal communication between intestine to intestine or skin) which can lead to need of surgical interventions as treatment options. Here in our GEM IB clinic wer have treated many IBD patients of all ages with various complications. Thus we have success stories and smiling faces of many patients with IBD patients who are on regular follow up.

Crohn’s disease: affects any part of Gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, but most commonly affects the small intestines and the upper part of large intestine, thus causing pain, diarrhea and malnutrition. .
Ulcerative colitis: affects the large intestines, especially the colon and rectum causes ulcers, resulting in diarrhea with our without blood.
