Dr. Anand is a distinguished Hepato Pancreatic Biliary (HPB) and Liver Transplant Surgeon serving as the Clinical Lead in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at GEM Hospital. He trained under the globally acclaimed laparoscopic surgeon Dr. C. Palanivelu and has established himself as a leading expert in minimally invasive HPB surgery and liver transplantation.

He was an active member of the pioneering team that performed India’s first Laparoscopic Living Donor Liver Transplant Surgery. His surgical team regularly performs advanced laparoscopic and robotic donor liver transplant surgeries, delivering state-of-the-art care with precision and improved patient outcomes.

Dr. Anand’s expertise includes laparoscopic and robotic surgeries for liver, pancreatic, and biliary cancers, along with the management of complex benign HPB conditions such as gallbladder diseases, bile duct stones, biliary strictures, pancreatitis, portal hypertension, hydatid cysts, benign liver tumors, and splenic disorders.

Academically accomplished, Dr. Anand completed his MBBS from AIMS, Master of Surgery from KMC Manipal, DNB in GI Surgery from GEM Hospital, Ph.D. in Minimal Access Surgery from Datta Meghe University, and a prestigious Liver Transplant Fellowship under renowned transplant surgeon Dr. Arvinder Soin.

He is currently an Executive Member of the Liver Transplant Society of India (LTSI) and actively contributes to several international and national medical organizations including the International Laparoscopic Liver Society (ILLS), AMASI, American College of Surgeons, and ASI.

Apart from clinical excellence, Dr. Anand is passionate about surgical education and regularly trains young surgeons in basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures such as gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, and appendectomy. His current research interests include artificial liver support systems for liver failure and pancreatic transplantation
