About Doctor
I received my undergraduate medical education from Madurai Medical College and General Surgery training from Stanley Medical College, Chennai. My passion for GI and HPB surgery drove me to obtain higher Speciality training i.e M.Ch in Surgical Gastroenterology from the prestigious Madras Medical College, Chennai which was the first in the country to start the Surgical gastroenterology training program.
I have also undergone several international training such as Clinical Electives in Trauma/emergency surgery and Transplant surgery from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, USA and Visiting Program in GI surgery Unit, Peking University Cancer Hospital, Beijing, China. I was conferred the Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) in 2021 and the Fellow of American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2022.
I am a Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist in the Division of HPB, Minimal Access Surgery and Multi-organ transplant at GEM Hospital, Chennai since its inception in Jan 2019. I have keen interest in Laparoscopic and Robotic Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgeries including complex resections for Liver and Pancreatic cancers, Image guided Liver surgery and GI Cancer surgeries. My other niche interest is in the application of Minimally invasive surgery in Abdominal multi organ transplantation including Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy, Laparoscopic Donor Hepatectomy and Robotic Kidney Implantation. I also have developed notable expertise in laparoscopic and robotic hernia repairs and abdominal wall reconstructions.
I have an ardent interest in clinical research and teaching. I have published several papers in international peer-reviewed journals and presented my research at several international and national conferences.
